Born David Lawrence Hlubek, August 28, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, spent early years growing up in Oahu, Hawaii until returning back to his home in Jacksonville, Florida home of Southern Rock. guitarist Dave Hlubek, along with Steve Holland founded the southern rock band, Molly Hatchet. Danny Joe Brown joined in 1974, Duane Roland, Banner Thomas, Bruce Crump in 1975. When they finally got their recording contract with Epic they got some help and advice from Ronnie Van Zant, who was originally supposed to produce the album, but was unable to due to the tragic plane crash in '77.

In addition, Hlubek was Molly Hatchet's most prolific song writer, he wrote or co-wrote the majority of the group's songs, including its' most famous, Flirtin' with Disaster.

In 1986 Hlubek left the band, and was replaced by Bobby Ingram. Hlubek worked with several other bands for the next nineteen years, including the Dixie Allstars, renamed to the Southern Rock Allstars which he co-founded with Blackfoot drummer Jakson Spires. In 2003 he joined forces with the RHYTHM PIGS and  In January of 2005, Ingram invited Hlubek to rejoin Molly Hatchet where he remains today and in doing so became the only current member who was a part of the original band. Whenever he has a chance he STILL does appearances  with the RHYTHM PIGS if there are no conflicts with Hatchet's schedule.
